The most basic motivation for giving to Gods work is self-interest. It is easy to donate money, time, and resources when there is mutual benefit involved. Sometimes, people give to show gratitude. Someone has helped them in the past, and they return the favor by giving some sort of gift. The next level of giving is a much more difficult task. This is the giving of spiritual obedience. Spiritual obedience requires a certain level of maturity. People have to trust in Gods commands and trust that He will re-supply them when they give in this manner. The highest level of giving is rooted in love and special spiritual vision. These types of givers recognize, with clarity, that there is great need in the world. They find or create places where positive change is happening and invest themselves sacrificially into other peoples lives. There is no greater way to live than to live with love and spiritual vision.
