The Willow Creek Association was launched in 1992, mainly serving churches within the U.S. and Canada. Almost immediately, international leaders began making the long trip to attend events like The Global Leadership Summit. Recognizing the value of WCA’s ministry for their teams, they pleaded with us to bring the world-class content to their countries to serve their leaders in their communities. At the same, under-resourced leaders in urban areas within North America began asking us to provide more affordable leadership development training and tools to their communities.
In 2004, we began responding to these requests, leaning into partners and donors to support this work. Starting with a small percentage in 2004, under-resourced leaders now account for approximately 50% of those trained outside the United States and 20% of those trained within the country.
Partner with us as we serve these leaders around the world.
No longer can the Summit be reserved for those with the resources to attend an event beyond their means, outside their own region. We believe The Global Leadership Summit and other development resources must reach into those parts of the world where poverty, oppression, injustice, and hostility are rallied against the church and the local leaders struggle valiantly to fulfill their commissions.
We are committed to making our ministry accessible to all of the most strategic leaders in the cause of Christ through the church, regardless of that leader's ability to cover the market value or even the costs of the ministry provided.
"When God transforms the life of just one leader, that leader can transform a church. When one church is transformed, you can transform a community. And when enough churches are thriving, you can affect a region, a country, and eventually the entire world with the positive, life-changing power of Jesus Christ and the redeeming and restoring work of his people." –Bill Hybels
