Living With An Attitude: The Attitude of Living Now
August 23, 1997 (Weekend Service)
Possibly the most dangerous word in all the English language is the word "someday." People live their whole lives waiting for it: someday I'll be the father I've intended to be; someday I'll get in shape; someday I'm going to get organized; someday when I get married. This waiting for someday is called procrastination. It is the failure to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. In James 4:17, it says, "Anyone then who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it commits sin." There are five basic types of procrastination. To overcome them, recognize that the idea of "someday" is a lie, take responsibility for today, commit yourself to immediate action, and ruthlessly reprioritize your life.
