Whatever You Do ... Do These Two
June 21, 1997 (Weekend Service)
The sacraments of Baptism and Communion are two practices that indicate the presence of spiritual life. Baptism is the public initiation rite of the Christian faith. You are telling others that you are committed to your faith and that you would like to be held accountable to it. When you participate in Communion, you are remembering Christ's sacrifice for your salvation with other believers. You suffer with them, celebrate with them, and become a single body around the Lord's table. If you claim to be a follower of Jesus but are not following him in these two practices, you probably don't take your faith seriously.
