Making Sense Out Of Money: Mastering Your Money
January 18, 1997 (Weekend Service)
One thing we all have in common is the urgent need to tame the incredible allurement and power associated with money. We can get so caught up trying to gain this world that we can lose our souls for eternity. If we want to obtain financial freedom, we must have the character, the perseverance, and the commitment to create a plan and stick with it. A successful model for accomplishing this is called 10-10-80. 10 percent of every paycheck should be directly given to the work of God in the local church that you are a part of. Another 10 percent should be put away as savings. The remaining 80% can be freed up to sustain a modest lifestyle. Without a budget, without restraints or controls, most of us can't control the desire to spend unnecessary money. Adopt this plan and allow Christ to liberate you from the allurement of money.
