Making Sense Out Of Money: The Power Of Money
January 11, 1997 (Weekend Service)
Money is so terribly difficult to master because it holds out the allure of attaining God-like sovereignty. It helps us feel powerful, secure, independent, free, and in control. Money tempts us to arrange our lives around the acquisition of more and more money. There is more money to be had no matter how rich or poor we are. Money also promises to give us a sense of self-worth and importance. However, money is too fragile to deliver on any of these claims. Our thirst will only be quenched if we drink from the cup of Jesus Christ. In a free market economy, something is worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for it. How much are you worth? You are worth the life, the blood, the death and the resurrection of the second person in the Trinity of the Almighty God.
