The name of Elizabeth Fry has been largely forgotten. It is the forgotten people of this world that this British woman of the early 1800s served and it is her legacy we need to notice. The legacy can be ours as well. In turning around the infamous Newgate Prison for Women from a squalid correctional facility to a family-like community, Fry showed us that in addition to serving those that society has marginalized, we too are served by God. We just have to take notice of those that need to be served and then follow through.
