Truths That Transform: Think Excellent Thoughts
November 27, 1999 (Weekend Service)
Some of us are very concerned with what we put into our bodies. But are we as concerned of what we put into our minds? Cognitive psychology says that the single most important shaper of the way we are is the way we think. Further, the law of exposure says our minds will think about what we are exposed to most. In Philippians 4:8, Paul instructs us to think excellent thoughts, dwelling on praiseworthy things. In doing this, we must learn to monitor our mind and heed the law of exposure. Exposing ourselves to Scripture is a good start, as is filling our lives with symbols of goodness. In these ways, we take cues to think excellent thoughts.
