We don't earn acceptance of God or admittance into heaven by struggling, straining and striving; it's receiving His freely offered gift of grace that does it. But as Paul says in Philippians 3:13-14, "Press on." Paul uses athletic images of flat-out pursuit of the finish line, working hard toward the end. But how we press on is important. We need to look up--so we'll know which race to run. Next, we need to look inside, so we can stop looking back. And finally, we must look forward, so we can keep our eyes on the prize. In that way, we will achieve the prize--an eternity with Christ Jesus.
