Darkness and light. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." Because of the Evil One in this world, there is darkness here that affects us. When Paul said in Philippians 2:15 to "shine like the stars in the heaven," he was instructing us dispel the darkness by displaying the light of Christ in our lives. In order to do that, we first must acknowledge that we all have a dark side. Inviting Jesus in will not only allow us to shrink the amount of darkness in us; it will allow us to shine in this dark world. Like the stars against a black night sky, the darker the days in which we live, the brighter we can shine.
