Heroes
September 4, 1999 (Weekend Service)
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus passed onto His followers His vision of making a strategic life investment. By this, we are to get on the "team" of another person and shepherd him or her to live out the life God gave them. The term "Jesus-style hero" applies to those who especially make it their goal to mentor younger people. If we are to be a Jesus-style hero, we need to identify whose "team" God has called us to be on. By our life, we must be an example to that person of how to live an honorable life. We must invest in that person; to bring God-given resources to bear on that person's needs. When we get on a younger person's team and involve ourselves in his or her life, we can join the ranks of Jesus-style heroes.
