The apostle Paul writes to Timothy to encourage him to let go of his timidity and to find the necessary strengths such as Paul found even in his suffering. He wants Timothy to dig deep into the faith found in the gospel and to spread that around. And this message challenges Christ-followers today to do likewise—to not be embarrassed because of someone else's situation or to not always seek the no-cost-to-me easy circumstances, but to get outside ourselves and boldly share the redemptive message of the gospel, that very message that transformed us.
