The Relationship You've Always Wanted: The Relatives Are Coming
November 19, 2000 (Weekend Service)
During the end-of-year holiday season comes reunions with relatives. Not surprisingly, some of these people (it could be us!) are "high-maintenance people." Through certain negative character traits, they make it difficult for us to be around them. Jesus teaches that we must avoid conventional wisdom when dealing with high-maintenance acquaintances. Instead of reacting negatively to these difficult folks, there are two ways we can act. First, we can pray for them. Second, we must learn to accept, and not judge them. We can't fix them; only God can fix them. That's something Christ-followers should know first-hand.
