Why?: Why Promiscuity?
April 12, 2003 (Weekend Service)
Sexual promiscuity destroys lives. We forget that what goes on with our body is intimately connected with what goes on in our soul. They're inextricably linked. God had a sole purpose for sexual relationships with man and woman when He created Adam and Eve. When we seek sexual gratification outside of the provisions or boundaries God has set for us, we start feeling shame and guilt because we are leaving a little piece of our souls behind. We must remember Scripture when it says: "For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother, and be united to his wife." Marriage is a promise between man and woman, witnessed by God and the wedding guests that through life's hardships, the couple will stay together to honor God. Sexual gratification is only admissible under the guidelines of marriage. That's why Paul wrote the following to the church at Corinth. He says, "The body is not made for sexual immorality, but for the Lord."
