Vital Optimism: Anatomy Of An Overcoming Spirit

July 29, 2000 (Weekend Service)

Those who face traumatic situations with a fierce sense of resolution inside them have what is termed a "resilient spirit." Those with a resilient faith in God are those that also have an overcoming spirit. There are certain core themes that run though these types of folks. Resilient people take responsibility for the hope they have. They see failure as indispensable to their learning process. They make reality checks relative to their hope; they're able to adjust when dreams die. Resilient people have also mastered the art of dealing with negative people. God gave us a spirit of resiliency. It's up to us to develop it.
