Living Excellent Lives: Financially
April 1, 2000 (Weekend Service)
Living excellent financial lives requires that we earn money ethically, spend money wisely, avoid destructive debt, save consistently for our future, give money to the poor, and bring a full tithe to God. All the money we earn belongs to God, and how we handle that money is a direct reflection of where our hearts stand with Him. Every time we bring a little bit less to the offering plate, withhold money from the poor, or carelessly invest, we are withholding from the one who gave His very best for us. If we truly love God, we will honor Him by giving a portion of our income back to His Kingdom. Changing our financial lifestyles to do this demands a character check on our part. Do we have the drive and determination to take the realistic steps required to change our personal money management systems? Do we have enough faith in God to believe that He will bless us when we submit our finances to Him? We need to stop stealing from God and humbly give back to Him what is rightfully His.
