Living Excellent Lives: Spiritually
March 18, 2000 (Weekend Service)
Malachi was a prophet whose goal was to reestablish the standards of excellence amongst God's people. For years, the Israelites had been giving God their leftover time, leftover energy, leftover talents, leftover love, and leftover sacrifices. Malachi told the people that God took offense to the blind, sick, and lame animals they were putting before the altar, and that He would no longer accept such sacrifices. And God has not changed. God has only ever shown us excellent protection, excellent patience, excellent wisdom, excellent integrity, and excellent love. So, why would He expect anything less from us? Where in your life are you giving God leftovers? We need not respond to God's excellent love out of guilt, or out of fear of punishment. We should want to sincerely give our best back to the one that gave His best for us.
