Tools For The New Millenium: G.P.S.
January 8, 2000 (Weekend Service)
Global Positioning System devices are navigational tools of our age that guide folks traveling via plane, boat, or car to their desired destinations. This is an amazing new technology, however, people often are not aware that God has provided a guided navigation system to help human beings as well. If we desire to arrive at God's chosen destination, there are three things we should know concerning how His navigational system works. 1) Gods tends to use and guide people who view their present situation as proving ground for future circumstances. Until further notice from heaven, these people treat their present responsibilities as direct marching orders from God, even when the assignments are not ideal. 2) Any new guidance coming from God begins with a powerful stirring of the human heart. Pay attention to those conversations, environments, and activities that churn up your insides. God is speaking to you during these moments. 3) God's guidance system only works for those who act on it. The heavenly Global Positioning System remains a theological abstract if no one is leading a God-guided life. If anybody ever tries to tell you that a God-guided life is an easy life, they've never lived one. It is the most rigorous, challenging, demanding life a human being can lead. But at the heart of all the pain and suffering are those moments of complete and transcendent satisfaction, which makes it all worth it.
