Living Passionately
January 2, 2000 (Weekend Service)
Passion is the energy that fuels our souls. Without passion, work becomes a burden, marriages become stale, and spiritual life becomes legalistic. It is a God-given compass that helps us navigate our lives when opportunities and needs come our way. If passion is such a good thing, then why don't more people live passionately? Cultural, societal, and family expectations along with past failures and life experiences are a few forces that work against us. Many of us have an inner fear that if we were to truly give our lives to God 100 percent we would end up living a dreadful life that is boring and dull. Also, it often can be difficult to figure out what exactly we are passionate about. You can increase your passion awareness by 1) paying attention to your emotions, 2) taking note of what you do well, 3) asking others what they think you are passionate about, and 4) letting your life experiences influence what you care about.
