Simply Jesus: Simply Jesus
November 5, 2011 (Weekend Service)
As biblical scholar N.T. Wright points out, Western society in general has shrunk Jesus far too simplistically. We've pretty much determined that, yes, Jesus serves us day-to-day and is a model of morality and truth and is teaching us how to get to heaven. But, in fact, the Jesus of the New Testament is so much bigger. Throughout the gospels Jesus is teaching us to pray that God's kingdom will come on earth as in heaven. It will be the meek, the mourners, the peacemakers, the poor in spirit, the humble who communicate Jesus to the world and quietly transform the world with God's purposes for today.
