In today's world we see the reduction of Christmas to a point where the celebration becomes basically secular (reindeer and talking snowmen) or sentimental (it's just about being with family) or selfish (I've been good; what do I get?). But what if Christmas is God's annual reminder to us that the world is not as it should be? Christ-followers need to embrace the sacred of the season. This message speaks to the contrast of the less-than-comfortable circumstances of Jesus' birth and the reality that this literally was when God showed up. God's redemption and restoration began in Bethlehem and continues today as God shows up for us when life is going not as we hoped or imagined it would.
