In a video taken on a trip by Gene Appel to Malawi and in an interview of South African pastor Trevor Downham by Lynne Hybels, we are told of the efforts in two countries of Africa to do battle with HIV/AIDS, both in caring for those already infected and offering assistance for prevention of this and other diseases. The HIV/AIDS pandemic sweeping the continent of Africa is not limited to Malawi and South Africa, but these are two countries in which Willow Creek is specifically partnering to assist local churches serving those impacted by this devastating disease and which have made great strides in ministering to not only the physical needs of their people, but also to their social and spiritual needs as well.
