What does it mean for the church to be about friendship and love? And how does that happen? John 15 tells us that God chose us to be his friends and prepares us to go into the world and bear fruit. Because of Jesus Christ’s fulfilling humanity’s debt, we are no longer slaves to God, but are considered God’s friends. God wants to be connected to us in a rooted, loving relationship that empowers us through God-given gifts and talents and abilities. The church should be a community of people in friendship with God and friendship with one another on a mission to transform the world.
