Substitutional atonement. It’s what Christianity is all about. We find Jesus Christ’s substitutional atonement for our sins has background in the Old Testament. From Adam and Eve to Moses to the use of sacrifice in Jewish ritual, it has all preceded Jesus’ death on the cross. Bust Jesus’ sacrifice is the final sacrifice. We can’t atone for our sins. It has been done for us by God’s Son. That is the core idea.
