Bridging The Great Divides: The Gender Divide

May 5, 2001 (Weekend Service)

The divide that occurs between the sexes is one of the most studied, and yet, most misunderstood phenomenon in our culture. However, God can help us bridge some of the gaps that occur between men and women. To avoid a communication gap that can take place between men and women, God asks us to be quicker to listen, slower to speak and slower to get angry. We also need to bridge the gap caused by our sexuality. Honoring God by living in purity is at the same time, honoring people. In the issue of servanthood, we need to know that God calls us to be servants of each other, despite our views of hierarchy and power. Servanthood is honoring and it creates a bond between the sexes, as well as between individuals.
