Graduate Level Loving: The Supremacy 0f Love
January 6, 2001 (Weekend Service)
Is love the supreme value that you organize your life and decisions around? Often times, love goes from being the supreme values in our lives to just another positive virtue in a long list of virtues. However, in his letter to the Corinthians, Paul emphasizes that without love, Christ followers have nothing. Love is an even bigger deal in God's eyes than speaking in tongues. God is more impressed by small acts of kindness than he is by homerun sermons. Growing in love is preferable to demonstrating power-even mountain-moving, miracle-working power. It even surpasses vows of poverty and transcends martyrdom. If you're serious about Christianity, be willing to die to yourself everyday and grow in love.
