The 5th Commandment of the Old Testament simply says, "Honor thy father and mother." Because the Bible assumes the humanities of fathers and mothers, this message focuses on the different roles taken on by a father and pays them honor accordingly. These roles include: provider, that of high responsibility, and that of firming and expressing love and affection.
