"Why didn't I say, 'Time out! I don't want to live this way. This isn't fair. Our life isn't balanced and this has to change.' Well, I did try to do that somewhat in the beginning. Sometimes I'd calmly try to explain to Bill how hurt I was or how unfair some things seemed to me. Sometimes I would just explode in anger, but I couldn't get Bill to see things from my perspective. So eventually I just gave up and gave in, at least on the surface. Now some women would have responded differently. They would have fought harder for what they wanted. They would have demanded change. Some women may have separated from their husband for a while, just to kind of get their attention. Some women even, perhaps, would have left the marriage. But I chose a different route for several reasons."
