When children with special needs walk or roll through the church's front door, children's ministry volunteers are in a special position to exhibit Christ's love and acceptance to these children and their families. Providing an atmosphere in which all children are welcome and included should be a priority for all children's ministry programs.
Having said that, not all programs have the same resources to deal with disabled children. Some will be able to offer more services than others. But regardless of size or budget, some key principles and helpful tips can transform a ministry from well intentioned to truly inclusive.
