Overview

Church leaders often unintentionally neglect the health of their own souls in their busyness caring for the souls of others. If this is true for you, you're jeopardizing not only your own spiritual health, but your effectiveness as a leader—because the soul health of the leader has a significant impact on the spiritual transformation of those you're leading.

This course is designed for church leaders at every level—from pastors, teachers, interns and elders to Sunday school teachers, small group leaders, and children's and student ministry leaders—who want to explore new and healthy ways of fulfilling their calling.

The class begins with a self-assessment on the current state of your own soul and a general understanding of soul health. Class material covers an overview of the process of spiritual formation, an introduction to seven core spiritual practices, and a more in-depth exploration of several of these practices, including a daily prayer of surrender, journaling, solitude, and simplicity/pace of life. You will discover how to use these practices to keep your own soul healthy, and also have the opportunity to learn how you might begin leading others in the same growth and practices.
