1. Can I use the Imagine Christmas DVD "as is"?
This depends on your intended usage. There are endless possibilities! Here are a few ideas:

  • You can play the DVD as is and watch the WCCC performance on screens in your service
  • You can choose to use individual elements of the performance such as the angel/cloud drama and adapt the rest according to your church size and needs (the Video DVD includes many ideas from regional churches that adapted the product to fit their needs)
  • You can perform this yourself using your own musicians, actors, builders, designers, volunteers, and tech people! Here are some further instructions and available elements for this option:

    • DATA DVD
      • These files are for your reference - not all are necessary for executing this program.
      • In order to access everything on the Data DVD, there are some more specific requirements (see answers to question #2).

2. Are there any special software or equipment requirements?
DATA DVD: There are various kinds of files on the Data DVD that require specific software. In most cases we have provided .jpeg files of the images, but there are a handful of technical files that require special software and skills. (These are intended for intermediate to advanced level designers or carpenters/architects.)

Here are the different file types:

  • .vsd = Microsoft Visio Drawing (for schematic drawings - if desired, click here for a free trial of MVD)
  • .dwg= Autodesk Design Review (drafting program - for further info and to download free, click here)
  • .psd = Adobe Photoshop (requires Adobe Photoshop in order to open/view)
  • .ai = Adobe Illustrator (requires Adobe Illustrator in order to open/view)
  • .indd= Adobe InDesign (requires Adobe InDesign in order to open/view)

VIDEO DVD:

  • You will need a DVD player or software on your computer that can play DVD's.
  • You may want to use a Luma Key for video transitions. To learn more about Luma Keying click here (this is for experienced video techs).

3. What if I don't have the software?
Most of the unusual file formats were intended for skilled graphic designers or those with knowledge of CAD software (such as carpenters, builders, and architects) to use. If you do not have the software, you can download it (in some cases) or get a free trial (see answer to question #2). Unfortunately to open the Adobe files, you must already own the software. Graphic designers or staff/volunteers with knowledge of these programs can be used to design your marketing materials, costumes, or any other print materials you wish to utilize in your program/production.

4. What technology skills do my staff and volunteers need?
This also depends on your intended use of the product. It can be as simple as projecting the WCCC performance DVD from a computer or DVD player to a screen, or it can be much more elaborate.

  • VIDEO: In order to use the videos provided in the DVD, you will need a staff member or volunteer with some knowledge of video projecting from a computer. This can be intermediate to advanced knowledge, depending on your transitions, use of a Luma key, etc.
  • AUDIO: The music can be played a variety of ways involving various skill sets as well. On one hand, the music can be played through a CD player or computer, while the drummer uses the click track through MP3 headphones or an in-ear monitor. The audio engineer or volunteer will need knowledge of how to play split tracks on separate channels. On the other hand, all the music can be loaded into audio recording/sequencing software (such as Pro Tools or Logic). This would require more advanced skills and knowledge of software.
  • OTHER: There are many, many skills you could use for this performance, depending on what you have available to you. Volunteers or staff with a variety of computer skills, lighting design, set design, construction, and costume design skills would be very helpful. There are endless opportunities to be creative and adapt the program to fit your church size, culture, and needs.

5. Do I have to have a band?
Yes. If you plan on performing this program live, you need a small band.
Suggested Instruments:

  • Drums
  • Guitar (Bass and Electric)
  • Violin
  • Keys
  • You may also want to include a Flute
The intention was for you to use these instruments and supplement with the tracks available on the Data CD. In many cases your audio technician will need to separate the click tracks and/or directors cues using split channels.

6. This appears to be an intricate production; must I have dancers, gymnasts, actors AND musicians?
This program can be used in a variety of ways. If you have the volunteers available to you we would encourage you to utilize their talents and creativity! If not, you can use this program as an inspiration. The dancers, gymnasts, aerialists, etc. were used to create a sense of awe and wonder. You can modify this in any way you creatively desire. Having actors is a great addition, but you have the option of using the WCCC performance in your program. We do strongly suggest using a band. The Bonus Materials in this Video DVD feature two interviews from regional sites- one from a producer and one from a technical director. They both offer great advice about how they adapted the program to fit the needs of their particular church building, setting, and available staff/volunteers.

7. What about copyright?
Q: Can I use my performance of this on the web?
A: You need to make sure you are copyright compliant for everything that you show on the web.

Q: Can I use the promo trailer from the DVD for this performance on our website?
A: Yes, for communication purposes only and not to be sold.

Q: Can I sell or give away a recording of my church's performance of this?
A: You need copyright permission from the WCCC as well as the copyright holders of the other content in this program.

Q: Where are my Demo Tracks?
A: For this program, we intended the video DVD to be the demo source. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure copyright on getting song demos in a purely audio form for such usage. There are song support and rehearsal tracks available, but no song demos. We apologize for the inconvenience, but are always trying to operate under copyright compliance.

Q: Are there specific permissions WCCC is giving to make adaptations to the production?
A: There are no specific permissions. Generally WCCC and the WCA are open to modifications that help you and your church make a greater impact in the Kingdom. However, there are specific copyright restrictions especially on the reproduction or copying of music charts, lyrics, and audio recordings. Please call if you have any requests for copyright permissions.

8. Are there charts available for a full orchestra?
No, all of the orchestration was generated using computer software so there are no existing charts.

9. Where can we obtain costumes?
The performance video will give you some great ideas for costumes. There are also clips of 2 regional churches in the area that used costume ideas and adapted them to fit their program. If you want to use the icons provided in the Programming and Product file to create your own shirts or vests, you will need a computer that has Adobe design software. There are Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign files available. Costumes can be hand made or purchased, and you can use your imagination to make them fit your program!

10. What is available for the musicians to learn their parts? (Demos, accompaniment tracks, charts, rehearsal tracks, etc.)
For this program, we intended the video DVD to be the demo source. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure copyright on getting song demos in a purely audio form for such usage. There are song support tracks available on most songs, but no demos. We apologize for the inconvenience, but are always trying to operate under copyright compliance. There are a variety of vocal and instrumental charts, rehearsal tracks, and performance tracks (high resolution MP3s) available as listed here.

11. What is Take05chaos?
We recorded some of the communication audio from our actual performance. This is the audio of our production staff and volunteers talking to each other behind the scenes during our performance. We thought you would like a "taste" of the action.

12. Why is there a click track and director cues in the Kite Dance, Carol of the Bells, and It Came Upon A Midnight Clear?
The click tracks are useful during the performance as well as rehearsals to synchronize the timing of transitions, to stay in tempo, and to unite the band. You can use one channel for the audio in your sanctuary or auditorium (that the audience hears), and the click tracks on another channel with no volume, or in headphones/in-ear monitors for only the musicians to hear (particularly the drummer).

13. Can I use the graphics and put in our own church name and info?
Absolutely. This will require some computer graphic design skills and Adobe software since these files are provided as design files and not easily manipulated (with out the right tools and knowledge).
