The following projects detail WCA’s current needs and provide an overview of how donations will be used during the coming year. If you have a special heart for one of these projects, we would be honored to talk with you about making a designated gift to cover costs for a specific country, language, or project.
2009 GLS Individual Country Needs:
When we can combine an energized GLS organizing committee and sufficient resources, God has blessed the outcome. Financial resources are a critical component to leadership development in under-resourced countries. Fees are adjusted to make it possible for the average pastor to attend. In some cases, this covers all or most of the basic costs like building and equipment rentals. Shortfalls must be bridged by proceeds from donations. Immediately following the live, North American event, teams begin translating. The Leadership Summit sessions for GLS events in September through December. Translation is painstaking and expensive, yet yields huge rewards.

Translation of Resources
Leaders with sharpened skills and healthy souls need tools to help them guide, teach, and encourage others. Willow Creek Association has hundreds of resources that are being requested by those church leaders working in youth leadership, children’s programs, adult spiritual formation, and more. These are the costs for the most urgent requests for material adaptation and translation:
Envisioning 2010 New Country Leaders
The volunteer organizing committees of new 2010 GLS countries have a lot to learn. To help regional leaders in these countries maximize the potential of the event, it’s critical for them to attend a 2009 event and learn from those who’ve already launched the event in a country nearby. Projection Equipment
Locating high-quality projection equipment is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome in bringing the GLS to the poorest countries. In some countries equipment must be brought from neighboring countries, adding customs issues to the already prohibitive prices. By investing in the purchase of projection equipment, we can ensure many years of GLS events among leaders who are thirsty for training and encouragement.
Leaders Scholarship Fund
The GLS model is cost effective; $50 is the average cost to support a leader to attend. Donations allow more men and women to experience the GLS and apply it in their own cultural church setting.

The Summit offers a unique opportunity to galvanize leader development, but it is just the beginning. WCA extends the impact of the Summit through coaching, networking, and relationship-building events. Regional leaders gather to discuss and apply leadership principles within their cultural context throughout the year.
