What's Happening Where You Are | What Other Leaders Are Doing | What People Are Saying

God uses an innumerable spectrum of leaders to do His work in the world. Whether you are a senior pastor, sound technician, student, or groundskeeper, the call to lead remains extended with power and purpose. Consider Jesus, whose search for leadership led him to common fishermen, tax collectors and religious dropouts. One of the most integral parts of The Leadership Summit is spontaneous interaction. Creating an arena for all kinds of gifted leaders to rub shoulders with one another opens an undeniable avenue for the Spirit to move people and change lives. > Read More

As the founder and CEO of Teach For America, Wendy Kopp has influenced hundreds of thousands of students in the United States. The organization, which was originally proposed in Kopp's undergraduate thesis in 1989, commits recent college graduates of all academic majors to two years of teaching in both urban and rural public schools, in some of the country's neediest communities. Under her leadership, Teach For America enlists the nation's most promising future leaders in the movement to eliminate educational inequity. Kopp serves on numerous national boards, at institutions like Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and Duke University's Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship.

The Hip-Hop Church: Connecting With the Movement Shaping Our Culture
Hip-hop culture is all around us: in the clothes youth wear, in the music they listen to, in the ways they express themselves. It is the language they speak, the rhythm they move to. It is a culture familiar with the hard realities of our broken world; the generation raised with rap knows about the pain. They need to know about the hope. How will they hear Christ's message of truth and hope if we don't speak their language? And how can we speak their language if we don't understand and embrace their culture? “For the Church to bring the gospel into our postmodern world, we must wrestle not only with our culture, but also its subcultures of hip-hop and multiculturalism.”

Corinne and Greg Ferguson have been instrumental in producing The Leadership Summit since it's inception in 1995. As part of the Summit team they interact with our speakers and lead the creation and production of all programming for the event.

CORRINE: Gary Haugen, President and CEO of International Justice Mission, is one of our guest speakers at The Leadership Summit this August. A few weeks ago, Greg and I were privileged to attend their Global Prayer Gathering. It was one of the most profound experiences we've ever had. We heard countless stories of people who were victims of unthinkable acts of evil, who through IJM and God's intervention, were rescued and given a chance to heal and rebuild their lives. > Read More

Sunset Presbyterian Church in Portland, Oregon has been involved with The Leadership Summit for seven years. Founded in 1954, the church spent many years as a small, struggling congregation until 1981, when current Senior Pastor Ron Kincaid arrived in Portland. Sunset had at that time spent a number of years without a regular pastor, relying on a series of interim pastors—there were only 25 people in regular attendance when Kincaid began. Today, with 1,900 members and an average weekend attendance of 2,500, Sunset has become an important vessel for doing God's work in their immediate community and the Pacific Northwest. > Read More

The AIDS pandemic is one of the most globally recognized humanitarian crises in the world today—individuals, organizations, and governments from across the globe have spent decades of time and resources combating its spread and destruction. In 2007, Willow Creek Association partnered with World Vision to launch the Courageous Leadership Award, an honor aimed at furthering the cause of relief work and recognizing churches that demonstrate outstanding involvement and effectiveness in the fight against AIDS. > Read More
