Point Leader Sessions

Point Leader Sessions are an alternative to the breakout experience that are open to arts point leaders only. There is an add-on charge of $79 per session for WCA Members and $99 per session for non-members. You can choose either one or two Point Leader Sessions to customize your Thursday experience. If you choose a Point Leader Session, it will take the place of two normal breakouts, spreading across either the A-B time slot or the C-D time slot. You'll be able to spend this time in a smaller setting with some of the top Christian leaders from around the country. Click below to find out more about the topics and the speakers for each session.

All Point Leader Sessions take place at the nearby Stonegate convention center. Transportation between Willow and Stonegate for the Point Leader Sessions will be provided at the beginning of the day, during the lunch break, and the end of the day. Shuttles will run at the end of the day from Stonegate to the Renaissance for those who want to attend the Learning Expo.

The role of a worship/creative arts leader brings huge challenges, many of which are not discussed openly. In this session, Nancy Beach brings her experience as a veteran arts leader to help explore these issues in a safe environment, with an agenda partially set by the attendees themselves. Come for a time of honesty, shared experience, and encouragement to keep you leading with passion, skill, and grace.

Weaving the Arts With Teaching
PL270

When the arts and teaching are integrated in a Sunday morning experience, the congregation is taken on a journey from beginning to end. Planning these services is more challenging for both the pastor and the arts team – but the results can be very powerful. In this workshop we will explore examples and a multitude of ideas for weaving various arts forms with the teaching. In addition we will engage in honest dialogue about what kinds of processes are needed to create these services.

We live in a world that is more interested in surface appearance and results. Our to-do-list often outweighs the attention we spend on the condition and foundation of our soul. This session builds on the The Rest of God session but can also stand alone. Mark Buchanan explores a model of "seasonality" for spiritual formation and maturation. If the goal of discipleship is to bear much fruit, then it is vital we know the seasons of our own heart and, beyond that, the seasons of our ministry or church. We will look at what each season looks and feels like, and what is appropriate, and inappropriate, for each.
