The Joy of Generosity
What if a church held a half-day event about generosity and over one thousand people showed up? That would be remarkable even during good economic times. It would be even more remarkable during one of the most difficult economic times in history. And yet that’s exactly what happened at Community Christian Church in Naperville, IL last month at its second annual Generosity Conference.
What is it that motivated so many people to come and learn more about growing in generosity? From the perspective of one who has participated in the event both years, here are a few thoughts.
First, Community preaches about money on a regular basis.
Second, Community teaches about money on a regular basis by offering Good $ense classes throughout the year.
Third, Community celebrates people’s wise use of money on a regular basis by putting testimonies on its web site and having people share their stories live.
Fourth, Community makes learning about money fun. You’ll see what I mean when you take a look at this generosity conference promotional video and this musical performance that was part of the opening session of this year’s conference.
