After trying to do this for 9 years, I’ve finally come to realize I’m the problem.

You see, as a white guy I’ve had things handed to me on a silver platter most of my life. I haven’t ever suffered from racial or gender discrimination — “the powers that be” always favored me. Without really being aware of it, God started doing some things in me to expand my ecumenical and cultural views. Over the course of the last 12 years I’ve had the opportunity to live in 5 different countries and as I started out in ministry my three closest ministry friends were a Korean-American, a Guatemalan-American, and an African-American. I began to realize that the Kingdom of God was a lot greater than my previous affluent white New England suburban childhood view.
