Most of us involved in church work would agree that the task side of ministry far outweighs the staff side of ministry. Think about it in terms of a simple equation: X+Y=Z. Z is fruit being born in our churches, and X is paid staff. If you can't add staff (X) but want to increase your church's ministry output (Z), then the only variable you can affect is Y - volunteerism. In order for any church to reach its full redemptive potential, the work of volunteers standing in the gap is imperative. And when a volunteer feels used by God, there's nothing like it. Bill Hybels and Willow Creek's Director of People Resources Tammy Kelley discuss the vital role the "Y Factor" will play as the church continues to evolve.
