City Builders Overview
City Builders are churches, groups or individuals that want to help transform a city for Christ by partnering in world-class leadership development through The Global Leadership Summit (GLS).

In the fall of 2008, Willow Creek Association brought the GLS to 49 countries and 116 cities, reaching more than 52,000 international pastors and leaders. This was only possible because of our City Builder partners who contributed to the GLS vision. This initiative was launched in 2005 to 22 cities, with more than 14,000 leaders in attendance from across Africa, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and South America. Utilizing Summit sessions transmitted via high-quality DVD technology, each event was coordinated by national church leaders who added live interaction and worship.

Each new GLS site requires the investment of $25,000 for the tools and technology to run one local event. This includes the cost of translation (both on screen and written materials), training local volunteers, and rental of high definition video equipment. In addition, the GLS gives scholarships to leaders who do not have the means to attend. In South Africa alone, 1,200 emerging leaders were blessed with the opportunity to attend the GLS for a greatly reduced cost, and in many cases, transportation and lodging, as they serve in churches whose congregations are in abject poverty.

Leaders from 22 new countries, including Mongolia, Vietnam and Thailand, have asked the WCA to bring the GLS to their leaders in 2009. In some of these countries, the Gospel hangs on by the slimmest of threads, and many Christians are ministering on the front lines of poverty, oppression and injustice. We need your help to make this vision a reality.
