The music is amazing and very achievable. We loved the carol medley full of energy and loads of fun!
Noel was also a favourite.
We did not use puppets in the Drama- The Village of Lack so used a child for the role of "Likely" who did an amazing job.
Peoples stories inspired and touched people of all ages.
Many loved the chain idea but we had some confusion in our first service and many people had placed the bands on their wrist so we did not get very long chains which was a little of an anticlimax but in the second service we gave better instructions and had a much better response. (the suggestion to use decorations and place them on a tree was a good idea, wish I had read the review before we presented our service!)
Thank you Willow for resourcing and encouraging creative services. We loved "God with us" and would recommend it to churches of all sizes. Hide... Glad we did it! From a production standpoint, each element (music, drama, testimonies) are not long and therefore, easier to pull together in various teams. For us, the most difficult element was to cast/rehearse our child actor since we don't do use a lot of drama. Props and set are minimal and can be scaled down or extensive.
One of the things that we enjoyed was we were able to incorporate many ages from 5-85 into the program via drama, music, testimonies, and stage help. It can be complex or simplified and adapted production.
For instance, we had no way to make or rent the puppets and didn't care for them, so we cast the drama as adults and a child. Also, in our situation, we couldn't do Willow's "paper chain" as a response and that was also part of WCCC's & Bill's story; instead we created bell ornaments from paper with ribbon to hang them, placed them in the programs and invited people write on them and come forward to decorate Cmas trees.
The testimonies were a highlight; men, women of all ages, teens and kids, telling their simple or very deep and emotional testimonies. Hide... A Fantastic Program/Package! The entire service from top to bottom (music, set notes, drama script, production resources, etc), was absolutely wonderful! Not only that, but when I had questions, I was able to contact the folks at Willow who had worked on this and they graciously took the time to help us find solutions that would work for a church with a MUCH smaller budget and stage. More over, the response from our congregation was overwhelmingly positive, many saying it was one of the best Christmas programs they'd ever seen. So long story short: You will not be disappointed by this one. It's an incredibly well-structured program that takes peoples focus off their own worries and fears and back onto God in very creative and powerful ways. Hide... Wonderful! At the very end looking out at the audience, many were moved... wiping their tears. God touched them somehow... :) Hide...
